Last weekend we visited 2 Willow Road, the home of architect ERNÖ GOLDFINGER. Built in 1939 the house is a graceful example of modernist architecture. Now run by the National Trust it is open to public, and still home to the family's wonderful collection of furniture, textiles and art.
Goldfinger believed that materials, instead of being plastered over, should remain visible and pure - a sentiment that resonates with us. Every detail of the house has been painstakingly considered, from the height of the light switches to distance between each of the steps of the spiral staircase.
